Accountability is defined as the act of being "accountable" or accepting responsibility.
Accountability isn't always fun... when have you ever want to admit that you messed up, could've done better or anything of that nature. It's not a fun feeling when you're the one to blame..

Currently, I'm in a graduate program that's incredibly rigorous 😩. My first semester i turned assignments in late, didn't study and boy did it show. I ended my semester with 2 B-'s. I thought well... that's not so bad... turns out my program has a B or higher policy.. since i fell below that I'm now on academic watch. I was so mad at first. I instantly became a victim and all my excuses were valid reasons. After realizing my "reasons" were really excuses i had to admit to my advisers, professors and most importantly myself that i was irresponsible and this was 100% my own fault.
After accepting my fault i was able to have a productive meeting with my advisor and set new plans into place to succeed.
Had i not taken the time to recognize my own flaws i would've run the risk of making the same mistakes this semester and possibly cost my career bc i wouldn't be able to complete my program. So far, I'm off to a great start and moving forward.
Being accountable isn't always comfortable but it's necessary. I challenge everyone reading this to examine area(s) in your life that you could be more accountable for. Once you see that area put a plan into motion and tell someone about it. That person should be someone who is gonna make sure you stay on track with meeting your goal, this is your accountability partner.
