Every now and then we have to do a self check in. How am I feeling? What do I need? Our bodies tell us often what we need. It may be rest, food, water or even to be spiritually fed. It is in these moments we must listen to the signals and take action.
As a single mom of two I feel like i am CONSTANTLY going. My weeks look like this: Monday – Friday: work (9-5), Monday nights: Class from 530 – 10:30. Wednesday & Thursday’s: My daughter’s cheer practice from 6-7:30. Sunday’s are family and church days. Unlisted are the nights of sick children, homework assignments, PTO meetings and whatever else is needed of me. So when was I taking care of me? I was becoming short fused, overwhelmed and un-centered.
So what do ya do now?
Well I took it upon myself to completely neglect all obligations outside of my home for one Saturday. I stayed in with my children. We cleaned, we watched tv, we laughed, we danced and most importantly we got to rest.
Never feel guilty for taking the time to take care of you, it’s mandatory.
