Hello Glo Girls!
I wasn't gonna write this blog seeing as though I wrote " Change your Mind" but I just couldn't shake it! The phrase perception is reality has been ringing in my spirit for a little over a week now. We've all probably heard that saying before but if you're anything like me you haven't given it much thought. So what exactly does it mean?
The dictionary defines perception as "a way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something, a mental impression". (dictionary.com). Reality is defined as "the world or state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them" (also dictionary.com).
Taking those two definitions into account it's no wonder why so many people can have a different account of what has happened surrounding one event. Everyone has different perceptions, therefore we have different realities! Wow! Mind Blown!! Lol!
Transparent moment: For a long time yal I truly viewed myself as a victim. In almost any scenario that played out...I was the victim. I was always done wrong. I thought this way for so long that I REALLY became a victim to EVERYTHING (at least in my own reality). Looking back I'm like OMG! I was a mess, always crying and feeling sorry for myself when in reality I was accountable for 95% of those situations I ended up in. But because I thought I was a victim, I constantly lived in victim circumstances. I'll never forget the day one of my good friends said to me "aren't you tired of losing in your own story?" I just looked at her. She responded, "yes, this situation sucks but you aren't dead... that means you can write a different ending". As simple as she said it was really as simple as it was. Everyday I found a little more strength until one day I realized I wasn't where I used to be and things became easier. As it got easier my perception changed and so did my reality.
The bible says in Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinks in his heart , so is he" I challenge everyone who is reading this to change your perception. Want to be a CEO? Believe and act as if you are already one! Aspiring to be married? Carry yourself and believe you are already a husband or wife. Anything you want to become real, think it, and it will become your reality. With a brand new year in front of us I hope we abandon all negative thoughts and perceptions of ourselves!
Love yal!
