Contentment is defined as "a state of happiness or satisfaction" according to the dictionary.
The problem is in our society contentment is normally associated with the phrase, "I'll be happy if...." which means our happiness or satisfaction is linked or connected to an outside factor we are waiting to achieve or obtain.
The only issue with this frame of thinking is that those "wants" tend to change. Which then puts us in the state of constantly being happy or unhappy based upon our wants.
A friendly tool i like to refer to from time to time called the Bible helps me understand the concept of contentment.
Philippians 4:11-13 states "Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me"
In this upcoming week i challenge you to find contentment even when you find situations in front of you that you would love to change.
